The park’s English Mania, was refined through a collaborative effort with the Module Developer Team from the Ministry of Education (MOE), and launched by Deputy Minister of Education 1, Datuk P. Kamalanathan, in a simple ceremony.

Theme park General Manager, Mark Germyn, thanked the team headed by Norazmah Mohd Yunos, for their outstanding effort, diligence, commitment and creativity to transform the Legoland Malaysia Resort Education Programmes beyond their expectation.

Norazmah, who was also involved in the development of the English learning programme since it was introduced at Kidzania Kuala Lumpur in 2013, said that English Mania has achieved success in drawing the interest of students with low and medium proficiency.

She was thrilled with the opportunity to work with Legoland Malaysia Resort and use the theme park facilities to create English education modules that are unique to the park and provide students with an immersive educational experience.

Every cluster in the park is linked to a theme or topic of the syllabus at the primary and secondary levels with hands-on activities and visualisations of situations like going through the castle in Lego Kingdoms, walking though Miniland and even taking a ride in the Land of Adventure will expose students to new, fun and interesting information.

Through the tasks and activities designed in the worksheets, students are compelled to think more critically and analytically, which is one of the skills aimed to be developed in the Six Student Aspirations specified in the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013 – 2015.

“Legoland Malaysia Resort has proven to be the hub for learning and creativity, and this collaboration with them will take the experience-based education programme, English Mania, to greater heights,” said Kamalanathan.

“We believe that it is important to have good communication skills and learning English is one huge step forward in achieving that,” he added.

The Education Ministry also endorsed the park’s education programme in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics or STEM, a specially designed education plan that complements the local school syllabus with seven different types of challenge activities around the park that highlights the core of Lego.

“We are very excited to launch English Mania at the park and are honoured to be given this opportunity to collaborate with Malaysia’s Ministry of Education and contribute towards the education of the next generation,” said Germyn.

“We are positive that with the activities lined up for the students, English Mania will be a memorable learning opportunity to help students expand their imagination and let them learn English in a fun way,” he added.

At the event, Kamalanathan presented certificates of appreciation to members of the Module Developer team and toured the Build & Test hall where student were participating in the park’s English Mania education programme.
